Obituary of Albert "Al" Johnson
Al was born in Kedleston SK, in May of 1926 to John and Eva Johnson. He fulfilled his dream of becoming a teacher and spent 39 years teaching in the Regina Public School system. Upon retirement from his teaching career, he indulged his love of plants by becoming a very well known plant expert at the South Albert Wal-Mart Garden Center for 21 years. Many years later, Al was still constantly recognized everywhere we went as “Al the Plant Man”.
Al was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by his wife of 61 years, Jean; daughter Merrilee; son Garth; daughter-in-law Kathryn; and two grandsons Connor and Teague.
Al was very dedicated to Grace Community Church, where he served as a board member for 21 years. His church and family were very important to him. When he went into care at Pioneer Village his church family visited him every week, which brought him much joy. Al dearly loved to interact with people. For him there were no strangers, only friends he had not yet met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held at Uplands Community Centre, 20 Weekes Cr. at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019. In lieu of flowers, family and friends so wishing may make memorial donations to Grace Community Church, 2831 Sunninghill Cr., Regina, SK, S4V 0N7
In Loving Memory
