It is with sadness that the family of Dorothy Zurowski, announces her passing on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the age of 95 years. Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Leora Mayer (Will Putz) and Tera (Brent) Jensen; sons, Glenn Mayer and Jeff (Laurie) Mayer; daughter-in-law Fran Burman; grandchildren, Mary (Chris) Barrow, Brandon Mayer, Morgan Mayer (Matt Jones), Amber (Riley) Deschner, Cam (Brin) Jensen, Richelle Zurowski and Brad Zurowski; great-grandchildren Alexander Barrow, William Barrow, Ivy Jensen and Oaklen Jensen; sister Jane (Ed) Read; sisters-in-law Loretta Toupin and Dianne Frombach; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Jack Mayer (1962); second husband, Lawrence Zurowski (2000); son Kevin Zurowski (2008); eight brothers and sisters; five half brothers and sisters; numerous brothers and sisters in-law; and many treasured friends.

Dorothy was born in Edenwold, SK in 1928 and grew up on the family farm with 10 brothers and sisters. She graduated from the General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950 and married Jack Mayer shortly after. Dorothy and Jack had three children, Glenn, Leora and Jeff. After Jack's passing in 1962, she worked at the General Hospital as a Registered Nurse while she continued to raise her three young children. In 1964, she married Lawrence Zurowski and had two more children, Kevin and Teralynn. They lived in Regina until they moved back to the farm in the Edenwold area in 1975. After Lawrence's passing in 2000, she continued to live on their family farm until 2018, when she moved to Regina.

Dorothy was a very social person who loved to cook and entertain, bringing together family and friends for holiday celebrations or for no reason at all. Weiner roasts to celebrate her birthday started for her 80th birthday and soon became a yearly event. She was an active member of the Edenwold community, volunteering with the Edenwold Ladies Club, for the hockey and curling rinks and was an active member of the Edenwold Seniors Centre. She was a sports enthusiast with curling, the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Toronto Blue Jays providing her with hours of entertainment. Dorothy loved all kinds of card and dice games, lawn games, shuffleboard and trips to casinos.

Although poor health prevented her from attending her 95th birthday celebration, our family matriarch still brought her family together for a time of celebration.
