Our condolences. We admired your dad's dedication to his firefighting career and his excitement in visiting fire stations in other cities. He was a pretty fair hockey coach, too!

When I worked for SaskPower, I was responding to a multiple house fire.
When I completed shutting off the power to the block, Grant comes over and says come with me, we’re going to go pick up coffee and donuts for everyone!
He wasn’t my boss but I didn’t hesitate to go.

Q: How did you meet Grant?
A: I met Grant working as a lifeguard in Moose Jaw. He was very friendly and down to earth. He always made sure to stop and chat with me. I’ll always cherish the conversations I got to have with him.

It was a shock to hear of Grant’s passing. I was introduced to Grant while working at Regina EMS. We eventually sat on committees together, one of which was Interphase Sask, which we both renamed In Your Face!! It was a fun and educational time. I will always recall the time he dragged me on stage to sing Mississippi Queen with Men Without Shame during one of those conferences. Grant was a very respected individual, who always made you laugh and became a really good friend. I’m stunned and sadden, but will never forget the things he taught me or how he made me look at things. Our condolences to his family.

I first met Grant while I was working as an Advanced Care Paramedic here in Regina. It did not take me long before the thought; “I wish I could be like him” crossed my mind. He was so welcoming, caring and wise and became one of my mentors in many areas. As I sit here at my kitchen table reflecting on the impacts he has had on my life, there would be far too many to list. But on this day, I among many, will be able to say to you that when I look back at the blessings that I have had grace my life, Grant was without a doubt one of the bigger ones.

We met Grant becoming colleagues and friends in 1974. Although we only ran into each other every few years I'm so glad that I had a chance to re-connect with him at an RMF game this past fall. We especially loved his dry and charming sense of humour that characterized his sharp wit and thoughtful personality. Our condolences to his children and family. Rest in Peace, Nicker.

Grant was always someone I looked up to. He was quick to take me with him and his sons on adventures. From the firehalls, to concerts, sledding trips and more. Grant would take us and have us laughing the whole way to and from. He was a very funny and caring person that was very proud of his boys Jordan and Justin.
I would like to pass on sincere condolences from my family and I to all of the Nicurity's and extended family.

My heart broke at reading Grant had passed. I first met Grant while working on the bid for the World Police & Fire Games then reconnected at the City of Regina. I don't enter a venue without locating emergency exits thanks to him. Grant was the face and voice of the Regina Fire Department for many years. Yet at his retirement celebration, he shifted the focus from himself to those in attendance and spoke of their contributions to his life. He was a kind and generous man. My life was better for having known him. Rest well my friend.

My sincere condolences to those who love Grant. I am grateful to have been a small piece of a chapter in Grants life journey. We met by working together on a board about ten years ago, and as we got to know each other better he became a friend. I will always remember his face lighting up as he told a good story, or was laughing. He really was a good one. Gone way too soon.
