Obituary of Ronald Barry Meyer

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Meyer of Regina, SK on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at the age of 87.

Ron was predeceased by his parents Tony and Mary Meyer; grand-daughter Krista Walterson; parents-in-law Ernest and Emma Teske. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan; daughter Sandra (Laurie) Walterson; and son Stephen (Hannah). Ron is also survived by his grandchildren Alyssa (Nick) Crompton, Aric Walterson, Anthony, Daniel, and Aaron Meyer; and his great-granddaughter Everly Crompton.

Ron was born in Regina and lived his whole life there, attending St. Joseph Elementary School and Balfour Collegiate. He worked at SaskPower (later SaskEnergy) for 35 years, making many lifelong friends.

Ron had many interests – sports, travel, art, photography, home renos - but his greatest joy was his family. Grandpa never missed a band concert, piano recital, or science fair, and he drove far and wide to attend his grandchildren’s sports tournaments. Regina baseball has lost a great fan. Ron was a fixture at the city’s ball diamonds in his chair behind home plate cheering on his team and seeing the positive in every game. He was always up for a game of catch and would hit you fly balls as long as you could chase them.

The family is thankful for the great care he received from the 4th floor staff at Santa Maria. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
