Sadly, Richard died the very day that I was released from the Ottawa Heart Institute after undergoing my planned Quintuple Heart Bypass after my 6 small heart attacks in October 2021. .... Ah Memories of Richard!! .... I first met Richard in September of 1975 while he was in the second year of a Two Year Associate Diploma in Community And Regional Planning at the then Mount Royal College (now university) in the City of Calgary, Alberta. When we Graduated together in April 1976, in the 65th Year of Mount Royal College, Richard and I were two of the three students hired for 10 weeks by the then Saskatchewan Department of Municipal Affairs' Community Planning Branch. And so off to the City of Regina, Saskatchewan, we both went. After my 10 weeks with the branch, I returned east to the City of Ottawa as my living near that city mother was then in year 8 of her 21 year losing fight with MS from which she died in 1989 at 64. Meanwhile Richard later moved over to the Saskatchewan Department of Health and he remained in the City of Regina for the remainder of his life. .... A specific incident that stands out for me in that Summer of 1976, was the day that Richard bought his giant convertible car that summer; we headed straight to a gas station to fill that giant gas guzzler up with gas. We never made it! We had to push the gas empty monster to the gasoline pump, ... uphill! .... I remain 100% convinced that this little experience had touched Richard deep enough that he would become even more sympathetic to the aims and the goals of the Green Party! .... Watch over our environment from up there Richard!! Maybe you might even do something for down here's environment. It was a nice time together down here in 1975-1976 with Richard. Bet that Richard can make it a nice time together up there!!!

So sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. I worked with him at my first government job at Sask Health Registrations in 1994-2004. He always had interesting stories and was a truly kind man. He even picked up a Steelers bomber jacket for me on a trip to Calgary once…Condolences to his family. RIP Richard Jack. Charlotte S

I was saddened to hear about Richard's passing ... was familiar with his dedication and work to advance labour and social causes and knew from his involvement with SGEU and the Labour Council.
Of late, Richard was attending classes at the Lifelong Learning Centre, University of Regina and we were in a number of classes together ... he was a resource to our group of learners in that he asked many thoughtful questions and contributed a lot to the discussions with his intelligent perception and knowledge about many subjects and issues.
Richard was always very polite and respectful and a gentle soul ... we often chatted before the class would begin as we were there early and I always enjoyed my discussions with him ....he was very wise and often talked about the books he was currently reading and shared that information with the other adult learners.

I met Richard about 50 years ago when we were both representing our respective unions at the Regona and District Labour Council. As a young worker I considered Richard a role model. Richard made excellent contributions in all the groups he was involved with. I will miss his warnings about the problems associated with small nuclear reactors. Rest well dear brother.L
