Obituary of Noreen Kimery

Please share a memory of Noreen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Noreen passed away peacefully, with family by her side, in the Pasqua Hospital at the age of 96. She was born on the Montgomery Farm near Wawota to Leigh and Irene Shaw and was the oldest of the seven “Gunnyville” kids. After high school in Kennedy, she attended Saskatchewan Normal School (Teachers College) and was sent to her first school at 17 years old. Noreen was a dedicated teacher and loved every day of her 39-year career. She taught in a number of south eastern Saskatchewan country schools, most notability Cross School near Riceton. Her first town school was in Arcola, a school and town she loved. Finally, she was able to secure a position in Kipling. This move allowed her to teach close to the family farm. Noreen loved all “her kids” she taught. Each one held a special place in her heart. Noreen loved to dance, play the piano, read, listen to old time music and her four grandchildren.  She and Andy loved their small cottage at Crooked Lake. After school on Fridays, they would head to the lake. Card games and ice cream were always a highlight.

Noreen was predeceased by her husband, Andy; her father Leigh Shaw (the Popcorn Man); mother Irene Teece (Shaw); her six siblings:  Iris Beahm, Audrey Wasylyshyn, Virginia Turner, Beth Ambrose, Jason Shaw and Philip Shaw.  She is survived by her son Clint Kimery (Monica Meider), grandchildren Terra, Bailey, Cade and Rayne, daughter Shirley Kimery (Robin Pasacreta) as well as sister-in-law Bev Shaw and numerous nieces and nephews.

We are grateful to Dr K. MacDonald and all the nursing and health services staff of 3D Pasqua Hospital.  A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment at Bekavar Cemetery next to Andy.  Flowers are gratefully declined. Should you so desire, please consider making a donation, in memoriam, to a charity of your choice.   Online messages of condolence may be left at www.paragonfuneralservices.com
