It is with sadness that I noted Don's passing. He was a true gentleman and it was my privilege to work with him on a number of trials over the years. He was an excellent lawyer, always calm and prepared. And his quiet sense of humour served us well when called upon. Don was a true credit to his profession. and I will never forget the hours and days we worked together.

I’ve known Don since Grade 10, 1965. We graduated together, then to U.of R. Bridge in the Cafeteria, beers at the Vag. Then through Law School at the U of S. He was a lawyer at SGI, and we were on opposite sides of many personal injury files. Don was a straight-shooter. Frank and candid. He never hesitated to give sound advice about steering through oblique insurance laws and regulations. Had the great pleasure of joining Don and some high school pals over a beer about three years ago. He still possessed his usual ease of manner and razor sharp dry humour, despite ongoing health issues. He will be missed.

I was very saddened to learn of Don's recent passing. I had the great pleasure of working with him at SGI for many years and always admired his calm demeanour and great sense of humour. His door was always open, and he was never too busy to help anyone. I later connected Jeannie and Don when she worked at the Regina Flying Club as a flying Instructor before taking her rightful place as Captain of a commercial airliner with Air Canada. Dad was very proud of her accomplishments and I loved to chat about her whereabouts with him when he visited RFC from time to time. Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of a loving husband and father and may you be comforted by the many wonderful memories you shared together.

Barb and family. As you know, I worked with Don from the time I got to SGI as a 24 year old punk lawyer in 1985 until his retirement in 2010. Along with our good friend Ken Lerner, Don always made time for me over the years, constantly putting up with my nonsense with grace and good humour, and thereby successfully turning me from that punk lawyer to someone able to assume the position of General Counsel at SGI when Don retired. They were very large shoes to fill and I'm not sure I ever did fill them. He was without a doubt one of the kindest (probably THE kindest) and strongest people I ever worked with at SGI and I will always be grateful for that. I'm sure Don and Ken are now together again, each giving it to the other as good as they got.
Leona and I would like to offer our deepest sympathies on Don's passing. We considered him a friend. Take care!

I have known Don since 1964. We became great friends in high school and in university.
I have always had the greatest respect for my good buddy, Don. Although our ways parted as we ventured in different directions as careers and families moved. A fond farewell to my good friend. May he Rest In Peace.
My condolences to Barb and family.

To Don's Family - we are saddened to hear of Don's passing. We both worked with him at SGI. Don was always friendly and fun. Don always had a joke to tell - both appropriate and sometimes a bit off colour. We always enjoyed chatting with Don when we were at work or if we bumped into him later after we all had retired. Don was a very nice person and will be missed by all who knew him.
