Obituary of June Marie Diamond

Please share a memory of June to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of June Diamond on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the age of 82. June was born in Regina, SK on June 12, 1938. She passed away with her family Donna and Dallas by her side. She was predeceased by her father Albert; mother Audrey; brother Ken; and son Garth.

June’s memory will be cherished by her daughters Donna and Linda; grandchildren Dallas, Tyler, Daric and Megan; great grandchildren Keira, Tyson, Rachel, Becca, Taya and Jace; sister-in-law Arlene; sister Marge; brothers Dennis and Fred (Daph); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.

She was deeply committed to her grandson Dallas. When he was younger, she would drive him to and from school, they always enjoyed spending time together at parks, playgrounds and spent countless hours in the back yard playing in the water and in the sand. June and Dallas loved sharing late night pizzas or grilled cheese, watching wrestling, drinking tea and playing video games together.

June enjoyed spending time with her brother Ken and sister-in-law Arlene cooking, time out at the lake and celebrating special times with her brothers and sisters. Arlene was June’s best friend since childhood and they remained close all through the years. Arlene was a huge comfort to her in her last few months as she would spend countless hours sitting with her while she was in the hospital.

She just loved Steve Harvey, and if his show came on, everything would have to stop because she had to give him her undivided attention. It didn’t matter who was here or what was going on, when his show came on, you knew June would be glued to the TV watching him. Her adoration of Steve Harvey could make an outsider think that he was actually one of her children.

June loved Christmas and was the best tree decorator ever! She would use tons of lights, numerous decorations, rolls of garland and tons of icicles. Nobody could make it look as beautiful as she did! The festive season was always busy for her as she would so enjoy making cabbage rolls, rice crispy squares, and marshmallow delight. There was always room for anyone at her table.

When June lived at the Trianon Tower Seniors Home, she enjoyed playing bingo, shuffleboard, visiting with her many friends and the residents who lived there. June always made sure she had a plate of goodies to take downstairs or a big batch of popcorn for everyone to enjoy. She especially enjoyed the special occasion dinners put on by the home where family could be invited and it would make her extremely happy when her daughters Linda, Donna or grandson Dallas could attend.

June’s fondness for country and western music will always be remembered. She could sit in her room recording music and smoking for hours on end. She would emerge in the early hours of the morning with a huge cloud of smoke billowing from her room while singing a tune, and feeling so accomplished on the completion of yet another tape to add to her collection. She knew all the country singers biographies by heart, and if you ever needed information on any entertainer, you just needed to ask her and she would gladly fill you in, in great detail.

June loved to dance, and when she felt the music in her, she would do her famous “French Stomp” routine. It would make us all laugh and we were always amazed at how such a petite lady could stomp on the floor with such a force. Her many loves included spending time listening to country music, cooking for family, crocheting, gardening, making puzzles and playing games on the computer.

She was a “social butterfly” who would talk to everybody and especially enjoyed great conversation over a cup of coffee. She wasn’t afraid to tell you how she felt or what was on her mind no matter if she knew you or not. In the hospital she knew all about her roommates, and when she could, she would walk the halls talking to everyone, sharing a kind word, a hug or just a bit of her time.

One of June’s favorite pastimes was when her daughter Donna and her would go on little road trips together. The satellite radio would be blasting the Willie Nelson channel and the two would be singing  Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Toby Keith songs all the way there and back. Those trips were always so much fun. June also treasured her time with her daughter Linda, when they would go to Tim Horton’s for her favorite Iced Cappuccino beverage after a long day of doctor’s appointments.

June so enjoyed playing “31” and the “Don’t Get Mad” board game that her father made years ago. She knew that game inside and out, played it with her kids, her brothers and sisters, her grandchildren and even passed her love for the game on to her great grand children Keira and Tyson.

June’s intentions were always for the best. She had a big heart, and even if you weren’t in her life on a regular basis, she always held a special place there for those family members and friends who were not as close to her as she would like. She would miss them dearly and always kept hope, that one day there would be an opportunity for a special visit.

Due to Covid-19, a service will not be held. Instead, please take a moment to remember your own special memories of June as a Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend.  Cherish her memory always and keep her in your heart forever.
