To Starla, Bard & Mark
We cannot begin to express how sad we were when we read of Gary's passing.We know that nothing we can say will take away the pain that you are feeling at this time, but we would like you to know that we are thinking about you and and your are in our thoughts and prayers
Starla we only met you a couple of times and Brad and Mark we had met you when you were very, very young boys. You were all very blessed to have Gary in your lives and we know just how proud Gary was of each of you.
Gary was the real deal and the big guy broke the mould when he created Gary. We grew up with Gary, Walter, Mary, Joan and let's not forget Misses Zaharack on Retellack St where we watched Gary grow up from the time his was in diapers.
There were many, many nights and days where the Matlock and the Esplen family would get together and play cards while Gary and us kids would play around the nieghborhood for hours on end.
Walter would entertain everyone while keeping all supplied with his famous drinks of just a little bit of rum.
We shared many, many amazing times with Gary and sadly we also shared some sad ones. The thing is Gary always had a way to make you smile and laugh even during the most difficult times. His had a smile that would melt an iceberg.
Gary was a spitting image of his father Walter in so many wonderful ways and he grew up to be the kind, caring good natured gentle giant of a man that he was.
Wether it was in the old neighbourhood on Retellack St or out on the farm we would always find some new adventure to get into with Gary. I can still hear his mom (Mary ) calling out " Gary Matlock, get away from that dugout"
Gary, you have left us way to soon my friend and it is very hard to believe that you are gone.I have no doubt that you have been reunited with hugs from Walter, Mary, Joan and Misses Zaharack and that you will all be together watching over Starla, Brad & Mark.
