Obituary of Lucille Carol Petrich

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Lucille Petrich. She was a strong woman and fought her cancer successfully for many years before finally succumbing to it in Palliative Care at Pasqua Hospital.

Lucille is survived by her husband James “Jim” Doolittle; siblings Frank, Judy Carter and Clayton; sister-in-law Sharon (Larry) Roness; and stepchildren Dayton (Mary) Doolittle, Andrew “Drew” Doolittle, and Hali (Jason) Kjelshus. She was a loving grandmother to Katherine, Andy, Tiffany, Alex, Avery, Shaylee, William, Madeline and Sydney and great-grandmother to Phoebe, Hope, and Teddy.

Lucille was predeceased by her parents Rudolph “Pat” and Hannah Petrich; sister-in-law Ruth; brother-in-law Jerry; and grandson Aaron Doolittle and nephew Mitch.

Lucille was raised in Jansen, SK where she worked at the family store and attended primary and secondary school. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1966 and worked in small practices in the province for several years before moving to Regina and later taking a position with the Workers Compensation Board. She retired in 2004.

Lucille was a person of many talents. She enjoyed and was a successful gardener, played several instruments, painted and crocheted amongst other hobbies. She and Jim travelled extensively abroad and saw a great many things together. To her family, she was conscientious, reliable and relentlessly supportive. She enjoyed spoiling and spending time with her grandkids.

A Celebration of Lucille’s Life for family and friends will be held with interment of her cremated remains at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lucille’s name to the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund by contacting firstpresregina@sasktel.net.
