I got to know Mel about four years ago when I moved into Eastgate and he has been a great friend ever since. He would greet me every morning on my way to work and I would almost always leave with a grin. He was funny and a great friend. He took great pride in his work and would bend over backwards if you needed any help. In many ways he felt like the heart of the building. He will be missed by many for a very long time.
