Obituary of Kenneth Peter Metz

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On August 27th, Ken passed peacefully in his home surrounded by his family at the age of 73. He is survived by his wife Sharon; sons Troy (Daniel McDonald) and Tyler; daughter-in-law Tannis; grandchildren Sarah and Lilly; sister Marlene Iversen and her husband El and his brothers- in-law Emil Pawliw and Glen Traynor; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Jean Metz; and his sisters Karen Pawliw and Sharon Desrochers.

Born in Mutrie, SK, on November 4, 1945, Ken grew up in a house full of extended family and friends. Throughout his life Ken and Sharon’s home was always the center of events for family and friends. He was always the strong, big man, with a heart full of love. He found the love of his life in Sharon with whom he shared 52 years of marriage, and built a family that was filled with laughter and joy all their lives. He was the strongest supporter of his children and grandchildren in everything they did, attending every band performance, football game, play and theatre, and track and dance competition he could.

Ken had many passions in his life, his love of football (49ers, and the Riders), the Maple Leafs, Fishing and Hunting, camping, cards and in particular, everyone who knew him was amazed at his skill with horses and animals. He will be remembered for his laughter, his bigger than life presence, and his absolute love of family and friends.

The family would like to thank in particular, Tammy and Travis and all the staff connected to the Palliative Home Care program. Ken passed with dignity, family and the comforts of home at his side and we are so grateful to you for helping him do so.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday September 4, 2019 at the Lady Slipper Courtyard in Wascana Park, 2900 Wascana Drive, Regina, SK.
