Obituary of Velma May Askin
Velma was granted her great desire to be released from pain and to peacefully join her Heavenly family on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Velma was born in Arcola, SK on May 2, 1933. She was predeceased by her parents Blanche and Clarence Marsh; brother Raymond Marsh and her husband of 51 years, Ken Askin. Velma will be lovingly remembered by her son Daryll (Susan) Askin, and their children Brian (great-granddaughter Alyssa), Steven (great-granddaughter Brianna) and Christina (Luke); and also by her daughter Marlene (Kimball) Sauter and their children Kayla-Marie (Grandma’s baking buddie), Darren (Amber) and Travis (Sarah). A Graveside Service was held at the Arcola Cemetery in Arcola, SK officiated by Susan Askin. Velma was blessed with beautiful neighbors throughout her life and was able to live in her home for 57 years. In her final years, she was grateful for those who faithfully shovelled her sidewalk and driveway with early morning precision. For the last seven months, Velma lived in the Royal Oaks Home where she was lovingly tended to by the caring ladies until her last day. Friends and family so wishing may make donations in Velma’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 1738 Quebec Ave Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9.
In Loving Memory
