Obituary of Wendy Lynne Moroz

Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Moroz on Sunday, July 28, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Wendy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her husband Casmar; sons Keenan (Kari Becker), Paul (Amy) and their children McKinley and Luke, and Mark (Anne) and their children Jane and Kate; sister Bonnie (David) Shakespeare, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents, David Scobie and Mary Scobie and her brother David.

Wendy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1948. She attended Greenway Elementary School, General Wolfe Junior High School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate.  After graduation she went on to study in the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba.  Wendy began her career as an elementary school teacher in Winnipeg, Prince Albert and Regina.  When she returned to the work force after raising children, she worked at the Department of National Defence and later spent 20 years at CIBC.

Wendy and Cas were married in Winnipeg on August 2, 1969.  Together they raised their family, enjoyed travelling, long walks and spending time with friends.  On July 21, 2019, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, which was a tremendous milestone and very special moment for Wendy and Cas and their family.

Wendy’s “boys” Cas, Keenan, Paul and Mark were the loves of her life and she was so very proud of them. As a mother, “Wendorama” was always supportive of her kids’ passions (but a little less so of their misadventures).  Wendy was also so proud of her wonderful grandchildren and the time she spent with them was precious to her.  She really enjoyed watching them play sports (ringette, hockey, football and basketball), colouring and making cookies with them, and treating them to frequent trips to the ice cream shop.

Wendy was a fun, thoughtful and loyal friend, which was reflected in her wide circle of friends. She was always grateful to have such wonderful people in her life and she truly valued the great times they shared.

Wendy loved flowers, poetry, art galleries, picnics and travel.  She especially loved to travel to England and in particular to the seaside village of Beeding, where her mother grew up. She was active in the church community at St. Martin’s Roman Catholic Parish, St. Phillip Neri Roman Catholic Parish and Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish, as well as in her sorority Beta Sigma Phi.

A Funeral Mass and Celebration of Wendy’s life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2019 at Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, 3155 Windsor Park Road, Regina, with Father Rick Krofchek presiding. A reception will follow in the parish hall.

The Moroz family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre and Unit 3A at the Regina Pasqua Hospital for their wonderful compassion and care for Wendy.   Those wishing to make donations in memory of Wendy may do so through the Canadian Cancer Society, 1910 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK S4P 2R3.
