Obituary of Fred Rodgers

God called Fred home on Thursday, June 13, 2019 to join his father Fred; mother Elizabeth; stepfather Rev. Thomas Pickering; sister Lil; and brother Robert in Heaven.  Fred was born in Clydebank, Scotland and came to Canada in 1948, living in Meadow Lake, Hodgeville and Cupar.  While attending high school in Cupar, he met Clarice and they were married June 30, 1961.   Fred attended Teacher’s College in 1961-62, then taught for two years in Pense.  In 1964, the family moved back to Cupar where he taught for 29 years, 19 as principal.   Fred loved being a teacher and seeing students succeed.   He was a kind, considerate loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.   Fred is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Clarice; daughters Carin (Lyle Cole), Jeannette (Kerry) Mohr, and Pam (John Terry); nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; brother Tom (Theresa) Pickering; four step-grandchildren and their families.  He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Jim (Sheron) Murray; Brian Murray; Alvin (Angie) Murray; sister-in-law Shirley Peddle; as well as many nieces and nephews.   The family would like to thank the nurses and CCA’s from palliative care for their care and support during the past ten months.   Thank you to Dr. J.S. McMillan for his care and visits.   At Fred’s request, there will be no formal service.   A Celebration of Fred’s Life will be held from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at 19 Heritage Place, Regina, SK.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Fred Rodgers Scholarship Fund, c/o Conexus Credit Union, 4540 Albert Street, Regina, SK S4S 6B4.   Online messages of condolence may be left at www.paragonfuneralservices.com
