Obituary of Jean Keller

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jean passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the age of 81. She was predeceased by her parents Willmar and Helen Ylioja; brothers Dennis, Paul and Willard; sisters Joyce and Lynn; and son Eldon.  She is survived by her sons: Kerry (Pam) of Pleasantdale; Dave (Lou) of Regina; Wade (Jocelyn) of Regina and Jody (Christina) of Airdrie, AB; grandchildren Carter, Brady, Alyssa, Kylie, Dylan, Katie, Anika, Matthew and Jennifer.  She is also survived by her sisters Lorraine Hillukka; Doreen (Lorne) Bursaw; Eunice (Vic) Ippolito; and Bonnie (Rick) Hendrickson; brother Clayton (Maxine) Ylioja; and sister-in-law Edna Ylioja.

Jean was raised on the family farm in the Lucky Lake area. Being part of a family of 13, she had a very busy childhood. She worked in the health care system at the Grey Nuns Hospital and the Shalom Care Home in Cupar.  She also worked at the Southey Homestead, where her cinnamon buns were very popular. It was during this time where she made some lifelong friends.  Jean was also known for her seamstress skills.  She created many wedding and bridesmaid dresses and altered thousands of clothes, in a pinch if needed.

Jean’s children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.  A very special thanks to Jodie Irving, the nurses and staff at the Golden Prairie Home in Indian Head.  Their care and attention to Jean the last few months was exceptional and so greatly appreciated.

A Celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2015 4th Avenue North, Regina, SK.   Flowers gratefully declined.
