Obituary of Bohdan Kotyk

Ben passed away on Sunday May 26, 2019 at the age of 79 years in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his wife Olga Kotyk (nee Spelay); parents Peter and Katherine Kotyk and brothers Mike Kotyk and Adam Kotyk. He is survived by three sons Claude (Sandra), Wes (Keri), Rick (Melanie); six grandchildren Curtis (Brooke), Sarah (Daniel) Fahlman, Brenden (Kellan), Jared, Ashley (James), Daniel; two great grandchildren Blake and Isabelle; sisters-in-law Emily Kotyk and Mary Kotyk and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben grew up on the family farm in the Mikado District.  Ben went to Teacher’s college and began his teaching career in rural Saskatchewan.  Ben moved to Regina and married Olga in 1962.  He taught in a number of Catholic elementary schools in Regina throughout his career and retired from teaching in 1990.  Ben’s favorite activities included gardening, playing cards, watching sports on TV and mastering all sorts of puzzles.  Ben enjoyed family events and especially attending any activities involving his grandchildren. Ben’s family would like to thank everyone at the General Hospital Medical Intensive Care Unit for the excellent care and compassion they provided. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday May 31, 2019 at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1747 Toronto St., Regina, SK with Fr. Vladimir Simunovic as Celebrant.
