Obituary of Wayne Andrews

Please share a memory of Wayne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019 we had to forever say goodbye to our husband and father Wayne Andrews.

Wayne was a man who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.  He had a great love and passion for music both recorded and performed live.  Wayne possessed a huge music collection of various artists. He had the uncanny ability to remember all the songs, who sang it and what year it came out. More than once his vast knowledge was called upon when someone was searching for an obscure song.

Wayne also loved the outdoors and one of his greatest pastimes was sitting around our backyard firepit with family and friends relaxing and listening to music. Summer joy for Wayne was experiencing as many opportunities as possible exploring all the joys of Saskatchewan parks in his camper. By January he would already start saying “it’s almost camping time!” Wayne always said the world became a little less stressful the moment he popped open his lawn chair at Cypress Hills, his favorite destination.

Wayne was very proud of his small family that included his wife of 38 years Lillian and his son Kyle. His chest swelled with pride when talking about Kyle and his accomplishments. The pride and joy of his family grew even larger when Kyle added his wife Pamela to our family. This year Wayne was ecstatic over the anticipation of becoming a grandpa for the first time. His greatest sadness was having to leave us before meeting this special child.

Wayne was very discriminating when choosing his circle of friends. He valued loyalty, honesty and integrity and offered the same in return. A special thank you goes out to his “BFF” Herb Cross. The special relationship they shared helped Wayne to forge forward through his illness. Another special thank you goes to Nicole Boulet – his other “wife”. Nicole’s unwavering support and 40 year friendship has been invaluable to our family. The family would also like to thank the many friends who provided the safety net of sanity when Wayne’s impending death became clear. We could not have walked this journey without your help.

To honor Wayne’s wishes there will be no service. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish to make a donation in Wayne’s memory please send a cheque made payable to 5A-Regina General Hospital Neurosciences Education Fund Attn. Jodi Foley.  The family wishes to thank all of the team members of 5A for the exceptional care, kindness and smiling faces they provided to us daily. Your daily actions eased the burden of our loss.   Online condolences may be left at www.paragonfuneralservices.com
