Obituary of Gloria Mae Cymbalisty

Please share a memory of Gloria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gloria Mae Cymbalisty announces her peaceful passing on March 9, 2019 at 68 years of age. Gloria was born in Canora, SK on May 26, 1950 and was raised on the family farm outside of Kamsack, SKwhere she also attended school. Gloria always knew that she wanted to spend her life helping people and after high school attended the University of Regina where she obtained her teaching degree. Though she only taught professionally a short time before realizing her true calling was in being a labor arbitrator, she continued to use her teaching skills in her daily life- often times to assist her niece in creative writing or teaching her nieces and nephews other invaluable life skills; even teaching anyone willing to learn to make the perfect pie crust (which is known to require a 4 cup Pyrex measure-no others will do). Gloria strongly believed that everyone is equal and had strong convictions in the powers of right and wrong. These beliefs, as well as her natural skills of compassion, intelligence and understanding made her successful not only in her work, but in her personal life as well. Her spare time was often spent with family, and she never met a book she didn’t read before sorting into a pile for whichever family member or friend she felt would enjoy it most. Gloria is predeceased by her parents Lydia (Zaharychuk) and John; her brothers Joe and Don; her sister in law Jackie and the love of her life – Len Wallace. Gloria leaves to mourn, as well as to celebrate her life: brothers Jim (Ana), Bob (Lynne); sisters Carrie (Cliff) Tysowski, Patricia and sister in law Irene, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. She will also be fondly remembered by Len’s family, particularly his grandchildren who held a special place in her heart. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to their cousin and friend Carolyn Zaharychuk for all of her support, assistance, time invested and love shown to Gloria and the rest of the family throughout Gloria’s illness. In accordance with Gloria’s wishes, there will be no service held by the family to mark her passing. Donations in her honour may be made to BRIARPATCH MAGAZINE at 2138 McIntyre Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2R7 or to the CHRISTMAS CHEER FUND at Regina Leader Post Christmas Cheer Fund, P.O. Box 2020 Regina, SK, S4P 3G4 - cheques should be made payable to Leader Post Foundation-Christmas Cheer. Anyone wishing to donate may also do so to a charity of their choice. The family extends many special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina for the excellent care and compassion they provided to Gloria in the time before her passing.
