Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald. Gerald quietly passed at Pasqua Palliative Care in Regina on Feb. 17 at the age of 75, after a 7 year courageous battle with lung cancer. Gerald was born in Westlock AB on September 28, 1943 the middle child of Robert & Florence Ford. Gerald was in construction with the Wheat Pool building agent homes all over SK. In 1966 he married the love of his Life, Barb Jones, the girl next door. During that year he became a Lumber Manager of a CO-OP Store in Luseland, SK. In 1970 our son Jayson was born; in 1972 our daughter Karen was born. In 1973 Gerald moved to Prince Albert to start another Career as a Provincial Building Inspector. In 1984 he moved to Melfort as City Building Inspector. Then he moved on to Property Management in Regina & Moose Jaw, finally retiring in Regina. Gerald enjoyed an animated discussion during the evening news, tolerated watching curling, but had yet to be a fan of American football. Gerald took up carving & became a member of The Regina Carving Club. He truly enjoyed his carving, from flowers to birds. When Gerald was diagnosed with cancer & was receiving chemotherapy, he started to carve ‘comfort birds’ that he presented to cancer patients. He continued until his hands gave out; Gerald carved a total of nearly 1300 birds at the time of his passing. Gerald leaves to mourn his wife Barb; son Jayson & grandson LJ; daughter Karen & son-in-law Ryan; sister in law Bev Ford, Dwane & Peg Ford, Darren & Sue Ford & families; brother Dale & Carol Ford, Ben, Justin, Andrew and families; Jim & Joyce Roll, David & Jen Roll, Evan & Joanna Roll, Ileen Lemcke, Kathy & Brian Kibler, Bill & Nola Jones, Kendra & Ashley McGrath, Nathan & Andrea Jones, Helen Walcer, Melissa & Tom Cursons  and families.

Following Gerald’s wishes, there be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly accepted in Gerald’s memory at Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care 3A, Regina SK.
