Obituary of Bryce Baron

Please share a memory of Bryce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

The family of Bryce Baron sadly announces his passing at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his mother and father Peter and Madge Baron; a daughter Elena and five brothers Arnold, Reinhardt, Walter, Mark and Herman. He was born on the farm in the Wide View district, south of Mankota on February 25, 1935. He was the youngest of six brothers. He rode to school on horseback in every kind of weather and at times during his youth was the only son at home to help his parents on the farm. This consequently resulted in him developing a very strong work ethic. Bryce was sent to Concordia College in Edmonton to complete his high school. After graduation he returned to Saskatchewan to work on construction until he realized he needed more education to advance in the world. He enrolled in the University of British Columbia and graduated as a civil engineer in 1961. Upon graduation the first thing Bryce did was marry his fiancée, Jackie and they set off on an adventure to Peru. It was an unforgettable experience. However, after two years they felt the call to return home and made their next home in Brantford, Ontario. During that time Bryce became a proud father to Craig and Darryl. A daughter Elena came along later when they resided in Thunder Bay. Bryce and Jackie called many places in Ontario home until 1977 when Bryce took a position with the Saskatchewan government and there he remained until retirement. After retirement he agreed to help out his brother by managing his company in Alaska for two years. Following this Bryce fully retired and first enjoyed traveling by trailer and spending time in a time share in Palm Springs. Bryce traveled to many countries for either work or with Jackie on vacation. For many years he could be seen on the golf course with his friends until poor eyesight forced him to give it up. Bryce loved playing bridge and played his last game only recently. He was a volunteer in his church and for many years a dedicated Rotarian with the Eastview Rotary Club. Bryce leaves his loving wife Jackie and two sons Craig and Darryl. He also leaves two sisters in law Ann Baron of Ottawa and Elsie Baron of Mankota. At Bryce’s request there will be no service. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory, please donate to the Mental Health Association, Regina Branch 1810 Albert St., Regina, SK, S4P 2S8. The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Hospice for their wonderful care.
