Obituary of Margaret Mary Fern

Margaret Mary Fern With saddened hearts we announce the passing of our beloved, Margaret Mary Fern on March 27, 2017 where she was under the care of the exceptional staff at the Lumsden & District Heritage Home. Along with many dear friends and Irish relatives, Margaret leaves her brother & sister-in-law Martin & Jenny Burke; daughter & son-in-law Helen Fern & Ken Rogocki; daughter & son-in-law Rachel & Francisco Fernflores; daughter Claire Fern; son & daughter-in-law Alan Fern & Amanda Popkin; her four most treasured granddaughters, Olivia & Phaedra Fernflores, and Ruby & Stella Popkin Fern. She was predeceased by her brother James; mother Mary and father James Burke. Margaret, her then husband Brian, and daughter emigrated from England to Canada in 1966. Margaret was passionate about politics, actively involved with various institutes including the Regina School Board, SK Advisory Council on the Status of Women and Casino Regina, and generously donated to various funds such as the World Wildlife Fund & Doctors without Borders. Margaret, trained as a nurse, worked for multiple health and government services across Canada, and her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and pets. Margaret suggested a celebration of her life, details to be determined at a later date. We will all miss her quick wit, sharp intellect, mentorship and guidance, and warm and gracious heart.
