Obituary of Scott Drackett
Please share a memory of Scott to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Scott Murray DRACKETT
With heavy hearts we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved brother and uncle Scott on February 10, 2017 surrounded by family and friends Shelley and Rob at the Wascana Grace Hospice Centre in Regina following a brief battle with cancer. Scott was predeceased by his parents Murray and Mary. Scott will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters Randy (Wendy), Mitch (Nancy), Brenda (Kelly) McElree, Kevin, Russ (Michele), Sandra Junor and Shawn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Scott was born in Moose Jaw on January 29th, 1960, spending his early years in Moose Jaw, Estevan, Regina and Regina Beach. Scott returned to Regina where he worked for the Loblaws chain for 36 years, with most of his career at the Rosemont location of OK Economy-Extra Foods-No Frills. Virtually everyone in Rosemont knew “Scotty at the grocery store” and everyone smiled when they spoke of him. He was always ready with a joke or a witty comment, customers and colleagues considered Scott their friend! He enjoyed golfing and bowling but above all Scott loved his Philadelphia Flyers and getting together with his friends that he considered his other family. His house was a meeting place for many. Scott always made sure he was home on special days like Christmas so that his friends had somewhere to meet and have fun. He was not one to judge and people immediately felt comfortable with him. Scott was not a “material” kind of guy. Friends, family, sports and a good party were his priorities! Everyone loved him as he made friends easily because of his great sense of humour and carefree attitude. Scott’s legacy could be measured by the amazing support he enjoyed during his illness. Scott was never without company! He dealt with his illness as he lived life. No whining, do what you can, but what will be will be and “let’s get the show on the road”! Special thanks go out to the doctors, nurses and other caregivers at the Pasqua Hospital, specifically the 3B Oncology ward, Alan Blair and Palliative Care and those at the Wascana Grace Hospice. Also, thanks to his good friend Anik Bouchard, who helped Scott enjoy being at home during his last days. In accordance with Scott’s wishes there will be no funeral but a celebration of his life this summer. Friends wishing to attend please contact a family member or note with your condolences on the Paragon Funeral Services website at www.paragonfuneralservices.com. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation, Saskatchewan Office.
