Obituary of Sarah Olmstead

Sarah Inez Olmstead September 9, 1923 – December 13, 2016 Sarah died at Regina, SK on December 13, 2016. Sarah was predeceased by her parents, John Olmstead and Kate Bradford (Alden), brothers Leslie, Gordon (Eloise) and Harvey (Lorraine), her sister, Flora Goudy (William) and several stepbrothers and stepsisters. She will be remembered by her stepbrother Hugh, stepsister Shirley, her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Sarah was born in Stoughton, SK and graduated from Stoughton High School. She attended Bible College at Caronport, SK and Three Hills, AB, and served as a missionary in northern Saskatchewan for 2 years. While attending language training in Toronto she found she had TB and was hospitalized in the Hamilton, ON sanatorium for 2 years. During this time she studied shorthand and bookkeeping. On returning to Saskatchewan she worked as a secretary and administrative assistant, including at Johnson, Trudelle & Beke Law Firm for several years, and finished her career at the Regina Public School Board. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church for over 50 years, serving in various capacities. She loved music and sang with the Regina Ladies Choir and Regina Philharmonic Chorus for several years, as well as the Faith Baptist Church choir. Sarah resided at Victoria Park Personal Care Community for 9 years before her passing. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Faith Baptist Church, 437 Broadway Ave. E., Regina, SK. Viewing will be at 12:30 p.m., burial at 2:00 p.m. followed by the Service to Celebrate Sarah’s life at 3:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church or to Briercrest College and Seminary, Caronport, SK.
