Deanna Trowsdale-Mutafov Deanna was taken from this beautiful earth to start her spirit journey on Friday December 9, 2016, far too young at the age of 54. She was predeceased by father Charles Trowsdale. Deanna was the beloved wife of Peter Mutafov, cherished mother of son Kris–age 22, and daughter Selena–age 19. She is survived by grandmother Loretta Cargo, mother Darlene Trowsdale, sisters Maureen (Francis) Belle and Sharon (Kelly) Gudereit, brother Bill Trowsdale, cousins Brad (Glenda) Trowsdale and Deidre (Russ) Baird, and many nieces and nephews. She sends hugs to her rescue dog Benny. Deanna was very involved in sports. She played fastball and was a star pitcher, and her teams won many championships. She played volleyball for the University of Regina Cougars from 1981 - 1984, earning many awards. She excelled in cross country running, badminton, track and field, curling, and cross country skiing. She discovered the YMCA in 1986, and at the time of her passing had been a member for thirty years. She obtained her Bachelor of Science with distinction in 1990 and worked for several organizations, most notably Nature Saskatchewan. Deanna loved being with her children, and stayed at home with them for many years. She volunteered for many groups including the Regina Humane Society, animal rights groups, her childrens’ schools, the Community Association, City of Regina Climate Change, and Environmental Advisory groups. In January 2013, Deanna was diagnosed with a very rare cancer, Leiomyosarcoma (LMS). It came as a shock, but Deanna vowed to fight this with all she had, and she did until the very end. Anyone who knew Deanna knows her passion and love for the natural earth and all life. There will be a Service/Celebration of Life for Deanna on Thursday, December 29th at 3:00 pm at the Delta Regina Hotel, 1919 Saskatchewan Drive. In Deanna’s honour, donations can be made to LMS direct research at www.lmsdr.org, the Regina Humane Society, or Nature Saskatchewan. Her memory may also be honored through the act of planting a tree.
