John Emerson Jones “I have had a good life” John Emerson Jones, born April 16, 1926 in Dryden, Ontario passed away from complications due to Alzheimer’s in the early morning hours of October 11, 2015. Predeceased by his parents Alfred and Merle (nee Washburn) Jones, father in law and friend Bill Rolston, his only sister Leone MacQuarrie (Dan, deceased), 2 sons in infancy, Kenneth and Bradley and special cousin and friend Frank Wice. John will be missed dearly by his wife Christina (nee Rolston); daughters Melody (Bob), Shannon (Earl), and Cheryl (Murray); grandchildren Dustin (Alexandra), Bria (Mark), Ashton, Hailey and Emerson; great grandchildren Jake and Corbin; brother Alfred (Joan); special cousin Louise (Jim, deceased) Burton; special cousin-in-law Betty Wice, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Survived also by the loving in-laws: Ines, Norma (Neal), Larie (Louise), Doug (Jan), Dave (Carol) and many nieces and nephews. John began his working career at the young age of 14 as a cook in a logging camp. He held a variety of jobs throughout his life and he had a lot of stories about his adventures. His favourite secular job was driving transport truck and trailers. An important part of his life was his work as a missionary and a full time minister as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Prior to marrying Christina, this work took him to the Bahamas. Once their family was grown, John and Christina became travelling ministers. After 14 years of travelling, they returned to make Regina their home as this was where their “girls” were. Family was important to John and we know he loved us all very much, as we did him. John resided at home with Christina until about a year ago when his health necessitated him going into a care home, eventually settling in Sunset Extendicare. John was a happy resident and was well known for his singing. A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 2020 Van Egmond Place, Regina SK.
