Obituary of Nellie Matthews

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Nellie Matthews announce her passing on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband Roy, which was just 13 days prior; brother Eugene; sisters Beatrice and Betty; and daughter Marietta.

Nellie is survived by her children Marty (Faye) Matthews, Leasa (Brad) Juravinski, Lanny Matthews, Jerri Matthews; grandchildren Shauna-lee (Corey) Chambers; Stacey (Devan) Brandon, Elizabeth Juravinski, Breanna (Cole) Ware and Brittney Ware; great-grandchildren Oak-lynn and Laik-ynn Chambers, Sophie Matthews, Harrison and Luke Crossley; brother Harry (Carol) Fletcher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Nellie was born in Watson, SK and grew up on the family farm at Quill Lake, SK. She farmed for many years with Roy on the Matthews family farm. While farming her and Roy took in 36 foster babies over the years. After retiring from farming, her and Roy moved to Manitou, SK.

Nellie will be deeply missed by her family. A gathering will take place at a later date.
