Obituary of Helga Denkert

The family of Helga (nee Stender) Denkert announce her sudden but peaceful passing on Friday, August 23, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years Hans Denkert on August 1, 2015. Helga leaves to mourn her five children Helmut (Cathy), Renate (Bob), Rita (Bruce), Heidi (Dale) and Barb (Dave); ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Helga was born in Germany on March 24, 1931, she immigrated to Canada to join Hans with her two children in 1954. After coming to Canada, she swore she would never wear slacks or ride on a boat again, she stayed true to one of those promises. In Canada, Helga worked tirelessly to build a beautiful life for her family. She will forever be remembered for the smell of fresh cooked bacon on a Sunday morning, floors that would never dirty your socks, her ability to fall through any lawn chair, cherished Christmas traditions, and her never ending love for her family. We knew in our minds that we couldn’t keep her forever, but our hearts thought we may get to.
