Obituary of Wendy Lynn Pinkney

Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Wendy Lynn Pinkney (nee Huber). Wendy passed on July 31, with family by her side, after a short yet courageous battle with cancer.

Wendy was predeceased by her parents, Elsie and Edward Huber. She is survived by her devoted husband, Lyle Pinkney; daughter, Carla (Curtis) Hallborg; son, Devin (Christine) Pinkney; grandchildren Carson and Makayla Hallborg, and Fraser, Charlie and Max Pinkney; sisters Carol (Wayne) Catchuk and Joyce (Murray) Schwartz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wendy was born on March 17, 1961, in Regina. She grew up on a farm north of Earl Grey Saskatchewan, the youngest of three girls. A bit of a tomboy, Wendy spent much of her time helping her dad on the farm. She had a love of horses, and the family spent much of their summers on the chuckwagon and chariot circuit.

Wendy and Lyle were married in May of 1980 and started a family shortly after. Wendy and Lyle spent time in Regina, Strasbourg, Brownlee, Bethune, Winnipeg, Swift Current, Thunder Bay, and Assiniboia, raising their family and making many connections along the way, before retiring on an acreage in the Thomson Lake area.

Wendy was very particular, always having a project on the go. She was happiest when she was outdoors and spent many nights in their camper following Lyle’s retirement. Together and with family and friends, they visited nearly every provincial park in Saskatchewan as well as many parks in Alberta and the US.

Wendy was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother - family meant everything to her. She loved fiercely and would do anything for her parents, children, and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly.

The family would like to express their thanks to the amazing healthcare professionals who cared for Wendy, particularly those at the Dr. F H Wigmore Hospital. A small family gathering will be planned for a later date. Donations in Wendy’s name may be made to a charitable organization of your choice.
