Obituary of Susan Jane Weigelt

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Weigelt on Saturday, February 24, 2024, with family by her side, after a long, hard battle against numerous health conditions.

Susan is survived by the love her life, Gerald Weigelt; daughters Melanie (Jay), Melissa (Tim), Kimberly, Jeanelle (Tyler), Stephanie (Nick) and stepdaughter Megan (Gareth); grandchildren Tionna (Luke), Blaze, Teneesha (Emma), Logan, Kaia, Joey, Brooklyn, Claire, Trinity (Devin), Damen (Danaea), Alan, Sam and Graeme; sisters Chris, Ingrid (Gord) and Penny (Stan); and pride and joy fur babies, Keiko and Pixie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Rose Klotz and father Henry Mette. 

Susan was born in Cobourg, ON but grew up in Regina most of her life.  She will be remembered as a woman with an immense amount of strength and a heart of gold who cared more for others than she ever did herself.  Susan was a foster parent for many years and treated all the children as her own.  She made many sacrifices in her life for the benefit of her daughters and instilled kindness, compassion and empathy in all of them.  Susan was also an extreme animal lover who rescued any little creature that needed help.  There were always numerous pets in her house that were cared for.  Susan enjoyed many late nights playing cards with friends and family and was an avid reader with an extensive book collection. 

Susan married her beloved husband Gerald in 2009 and he brought so much joy and happiness to her life.  They had a beautiful marriage full of love and support and Gerald spent several years caring for Susan during her difficult fight.  He too is a selfless man that sacrificed everything for his wife, just as she would have done for him. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at the Serbian Club 2775 Avonhurst Drive, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GoFundMe in Gerald’s name to assist with Susan’s memorial wishes and upcoming costs, https://gofund.me/b55ce823.
