Obituary of Marian Eileen Gropp
Marian Eileen Gropp (nee Peakman) passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the age of 86. Marian was born in Bracken, SK on November 14, 1937 and grew up on the family farm near Orkney, SK. She was predeceased by her father and mother, James and Sidna Peakman; and brothers Roy and Frederick (Donna) Peakman. Marian is survived by her son William Gropp (Lana), grandchildren Jesse and Marquel of Craven, SK; son Gordon Gropp and grandchildren Eric, Malcolm, Ryan and Evan of Saskatoon, SK; and daughter Carla Gropp of Regina.
Marian attended Black Horse Lake School in Orkney and later moved to Regina where she attended Kitchener School and Scott Colligate. Following high school, Marian graduated from the Regina Grey Nuns School of Nursing in 1960 where she worked in the emergency ward until the birth of her first child William. Having raised her family, Marian returned to work with the Board of Education in 1989 as a registered nurse in the Special Education Program for disabled students. Marian retired in 2000.
Marian was a kind and caring mother, nurse and friend. She dedicated her life to helping others, especially her daughter, Carla, who has special needs. Her strength of character was an inspiration to anyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Marian lost her battle with cancer and requested that in lieu of flowers, a donation to Saskatchewan Ovarian Cancer Survivors care of Anne Chase would be appreciated, 25-1333 McIntosh St. Regina, SK, S4T 6X7 or e-transfer socsregina@gmail.com.
