Obituary of Lucia Martha Kraetzig
On Sunday, January 7, 2024, Lucia Kraetzig passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family at the age of 93 years. Lucia was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kraetzig, after 48 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents and only sibling, who lived in Germany. Lucia is survived by her four children Maria, Hilda, Greg and Michele and their spouses; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and in Germany, brother-in-law Wilhelm Goebel; sisters-in-law Helena Vorwerk and Maria Kloppenburg.
Lucia was born on March 7, 1930 in Schonwald, Schlesien, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in 1954 and settled in Regina, SK. Lucia was a gifted artist and a member of the Prairie Artist Guild. Lucia and her husband Joseph were devoted to their catholic faith and were founding members of the St. Martin’s de Porres Catholic Church in Regina.
The Kraetzig family would like to thank all health care professionals, in particular Riverbend Crossing Memory Care in Regina for their care and compassion, the Pasqua Hospital Unit 3B and Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Hospice Care who cared for her during her final days.
