Obituary of Edward Longene Folk

EDWARD L. FOLK

October 6, 1946 – December 17, 2023

Edward passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the age of 77.

Ed grew up on a farm near Holdfast, SK.  He proceeded to get his Journeyman Carpenter papers.  After years of construction, he worked for PFRA in Regina and constructed miniature sites like the Alberta Basano Dam.  From there, Ed enjoyed traveling around Saskatchewan working for Saskatchewan Housing Corporation as a Housing Inspector until he retired in 2000.  He then started working with his best friend Bruce Meggeson until he fully retired in 2005.  After retirement, Ed enjoyed coffee in the mornings with family and friends and going to the lake.

Ed’s greatest joys were when he was with family and those who he considered his family.  Ed loved to teach his favourite activities to his children and grandchildren, which included camping, quad rides, boating, skiing, fishing and hunting.  He tried to help whenever and wherever possible.  Ed especially treasured spending time with his eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Ed was predeceased by both his father GENUS and his mother KATHERINE; three brothers, GERALD, PATRICK and LAVERNE; one sister, JUDY; one brother-in-law Tom; and one nephew, Neil.

Ed will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his family: His wife of 51 years, ARLENE; son FABIAN (Cathy), and their children Breiana (Kyle) and their child Weston, Noah, Abigail, Lillian; and daughter, SUSANNA and her children, Nolan, Brett, Natasha and Belle; sisters and brothers: LORRAINE (Albert), GLORIA (Lawrence), JANET (Floyd), DOROTHY, MAURICE (Mary), MERRILL (Laurel), GINA, Pat's (Arlene) and Judy's (Clifton).  Debbie (Wayne), Joanne (Warren), Dave (Wendy) and many nieces and nephews who will remember as well.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Holy Child R.C. Church, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Graveside Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2023 in the Assumption of Mary R.C. Cemetery, Holdfast, SK.  A lunch will follow at Joanne and Warren’s.  Donations in memory of Edward may be made to the Assumption of Mary R.C. Cemetery Fund.
