Most people remember Don as an adult but as his sister I also remember him as a kid.
When Don was about 13, he and a friend rescued some baby crows. They worked with my dad to build a big bird hutch in the yard. My dad told them they had to chew up bread and feed them with their mouths.. Not sure if that was necessary but my dad did enjoy watching them do that. The crows grew and Don and his friend patiently taught them to fly. Eventually they would ride their bikes and the crows would fly behind them. The crows went everywhere with them. In late fall the crows left, presumably to fly south, but they returned for two summers. Don did have a dedication and passion for animals
