Obituary of Edna Barnett

Edna passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with her family by her side.   She was predeceased by her first husband (and love of her life) Clayton Ward; and second husband David Barnett.  Edna’s family were extremely important to her, and they all loved her dearly. She is survived by her children Sandy (Joni), Dale (Penny), Judy (Darcy), Wayne; and their children and grandchildren; as well as her sister Freda. 

Edna requested this little poem be shared as it was so meaningful to her.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little – but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared
Miss me – but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master’s plan
A step on the road to Home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss me – but let me go.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date.  The family would like to thank Safia Siasang and the staff at Ashton Manor Personal Care Home, and Dr. Johnson and nurses at Palliative Care Unit 3A at the Pasqua Hospital for their thoughtful, compassionate care.   In lieu of flowers, donations in Edna’s memory may be made to the Hospitals of Regina Foundation or a charity of choice.
