Obituary of Irene Antonia Kattler

Our Mom, Irene passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, November 24, 2023.

Mom was born to Sebastian and Frances Ziegler. She was the eldest of five children.

Mom is survived by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:  Gloria Anne (Steve) Kopp and their daughters, Heather (Kurt) Whitford (Mickenzie, Weston), Ashley Kopp (Jerod) (Jakob, Lily);  Rosemarie (Roger) Ferraton and their children Nicole (Kurt) Schoenroth (Erik and Ava), Evan Ferraton (Frances); Louise (Don) Fletcher and their children Adam (Tyann) Fletcher, Sheena (Searle) Ball (Danaka, Karissa and Jaycee), Virginia-Lyn (Kenton) Emery (Brooke-Lyn and Kendell); late daughter Deanna (Raymond) Seitz and their children Daniel (Chelsea) Seitz (Kaiseigh, Tucker and Brantley) Matthew (Carly) Seitz (Abrielle), Gregory (Brittany) Seitz (Aryia, Emerson and Hudson), James (Ashley) Seitz (Orlenna, Brynlie and Hadley).

Mom is also survived by her sister Maryanne (Chuck Solie); sisters-in-law Darlene Ziegler, Carol (Charles Cummings), Lorraine (Joe Barabash), Alice Reynard, Cathy Laskey, Joyce Kattler, Elsie Kattler and many nieces and nephews.

Irene was predeceased by her parents; stepfather Lorenz Schneider; first husband Adam Gorski; second husband Alex Kattler; and her youngest daughter Deanna Seitz; along with her brothers Lloyd, Ralph and Roy Ziegler.

Mom, being a homemaker, raised their four daughters with the help from Dad.  She also looked after 42 foster babies, sometimes two at a time.  Her love for children grew when she became a grandmother and great-grandmother.  In Mom’s earlier years, she enjoyed playing ball with cousins and friends.  Mom also loved dancing the polka with her spouses or anyone who wanted to dance.  She loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, as well as helping her daughter Deanna on the farm doing various chores.  She loved doing her embroidery or just having coffee with the neighbours.

A very special thanks to the staff at Tatagwa View Care Home for the compassionate care they gave our Mom.

Mom, Irene, will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral Mass for Irene will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Holy Child R.C. Parish, 2636 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to The Kidney Foundation at kidney.ca.
