Obituary of August Albert Arndt
August Albert Arndt passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the age of 93.
August was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet; parents Gottfried and Hulda Arndt; sisters Lillian (Earl) Krause, Lydia (Wilfred) Jesse, Elsie (Paul) Tafelmeyer and Manetta (Ronald) Rothwell; and brothers Karl (Cecilia) Arndt and Ewaldt (Martha) Arndt; and two infant siblings. As well as his mother-in-law Ethel (Roland) Bright; brothers-in-law Murray Bright, Myron Popp and John Bright; and nephew Robert Popp.
August leaves to cherish his memory his only child Nancy, and son-in-law Jeff Dayton; plus their special cat Magpie; sisters-in-law Carol Popp, Helen Bright and Rosemary Bright; plus many nieces and nephews.
August was born at Wordsworth, SK. He attended Wabash school and then high school in Willmar. Following this, he attended business school in Regina. While in Regina, August met his wife Janet. For the first six years, he sold drafting supplies before starting his career at Sears as the furniture buyer and then assistant manager of the Transportation. After retirement, August took up wine making and gardening until Nancy married Jeff, then he went back to his roots at the farm helping Jeff. August left the farm again when Janet retired so they could spend some time together. After Janet passed away, August enjoyed his garden and doing a bit of traveling until he had health issues.
Special thanks to the staff at Marie Manor for their care of August for the last two years. Thank you also to the staff at the Palliative Wing at the Pasqua Hospital for their care in his last days. A grateful thank you to friends for their support and love.
Memorial Service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 2 , 2023 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, with Pastor Dennis Hendrickson officiating. A Private Family Interment will be held at a later date at Regina Memorial Gardens. Contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church, Box 1191, Carlyle, SK SOC ORO or Christ Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 4825 Dewdney Ave., Regina, SK S4T 1B7.
