Obituary of Rose Marie Dove
It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Marie Dove (nee Kolanchey) on November 10, 2023, at the age of 76. Rose is predeceased by her parents, Michael and Pauline Kolanchey, sister Lillian (William) McAdam, brothers John Kolanchey, and Tony Poruchnyk, infant daughter Lonnie, and daughter-in-law Amanda Kuras.
She is survived by her husband Perley Dove, sons James Puff and Darcy Puff, step-children Chris (Stephanie) Dove, Hilary Dove and Heather Dove, grandchild Vanessa Sabrick, great grandchildren Wilfred and Jacob Sabrick, step-grandchildren Hannah Dove, Eric (Mackenzie) Dove, Ashley Wiebe, Paige Wiebe, Devon Williams, Amie Dove, and Katie Dove, step great grandchildren William McIsaac and Grace McIsaac, sister-in-law Shirley Kolanchey, niece Lorrie (Brian) Halbgewachs and family, and nephews Sam McAdams and Al (Marion) Poruchnyk.
Rose was born and raised in Regina. Growing up, she attended Balfour Collegiate, helped out at her mother’s small grocery store on 11th Avenue and attended St. Basil’s Ukrainian Church where she learned Ukrainian culture and dance, and discovered her love of the accordion.
After the birth of her boys, Rose worked for SaskPower and took care of foster children for Ranch Ehrlo before moving to St. Albert, Alberta.
Rose returned from Alberta and began working for ISM. During this time, she met Perley, who she married on September 1, 1990. Perley and Rose enjoyed travelling and many family gatherings but cherished most the time they spent at their cabin at Mohr’s Beach. At the lake, Rose would tend to her bountiful garden, then she and Perley would go for a boat ride in the aptly named “Rose Marie”. Mobility issues forced the sale of their beloved cabin, but Rose was able to continue her love of gardening in a community plot near their home, renew her love of the accordion (Perley often mentioned that she was upstairs “squawking”), and continue to cook for special occasions (her favourite was Christmas) where the only one who complained about the food was her.
We will dearly miss you Rosie… and your pumpkin pie.
A graveside ceremony will take place on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Kedleston Cemetery.
