Obituary of Don Anderson

Please share a memory of Don to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with deep sadness that the family of Donald Anderson announce his passing on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Beryl Anderson; and his parents, Maurice and Marjorie Anderson. Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Greg (Cyndy) of Richmond B.C., Tim (Sharon) of Mission B.C., Don (Lisa) of Regina SK, and Pam (Curtis) Hoiland of Porcupine Plain SK; eight grandchildren, Teri, Rae-Lynn, Trevor, Kevin, Kelsey, Haley, Jade and Connor; five great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Tyson, Kamilah, Joshua and Layna. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Losch of Oakville, Ontario.

Don was born at the Regina General Hospital and lived his whole life in Regina. He attended Thompson School, Connaught School, and Luther College. After completing school, Don was a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets for a year and then settled into a long career working for the Regina Public School Board. He loved animals, especially dogs, and was a proud supporter of the Regina Humane Society and IFAW. He had several dogs and one cat over the years, and he loved them all so much. His pets were Sparky, Buddy, Middy, Middy II, Princess, Lady, Poppa and his cat Poppa II.  Don was an awesome Dad and Grandpa. He was so supportive and ready to help when needed. Don was also a devoted husband to his wife, Beryl, over the course of their long marriage. He had a way of making good times better and bad times seem not so bad. One of his strongest character traits was his sense of humour. He had a quick wit that made him fun to be around and strong compassion that made you feel better after you had spent time with him. Don was an all-around great guy who had a positive impact on many people's lives. He is going to be terribly missed. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. Donations in Don's memory can be made to the Regina Humane Society. Many thanks to the wonderful nurses and doctors at both the Pasqua and General hospitals.
