Leelyn has always been the light in every place he has entered. He has always been the laughter on good and bad days. Leelyn was always sure to make you feel loved and celebrated. More than ever, he was a dedicated father, a loving son, a protective brother, and an amazing fun, loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Leelyn was predeceased by his grandfathers, Arthur Obey and Irvin “Manny” Toto; grandmother, Winona “Winnie” Toto; aunts and uncles, Janet Obey, Rosalie “Boopeep” Toto, Neal Obey, Stanley Nahnepowisk and Daryl Noname; adopted father, Harold Lavallee; adopted brothers and sisters, Wilton Lavallee, Raylon “Pun” Noname, Heather Lavallee, Jenelle Obey and Desmond Carrier; nephew, Glen Perreault; and niece, Ashton Ironchild.

Leelyn is survived by his loving parents Mary and Murray Ironchild; father Dwayne Noname; adopted mother Linda Obey-Lavallee; mothers to his children, Tawnya Bigsky, Savannah Wesaquate and Bobbie Jo Cronin; courageous sons, Tyrell Cronin and Luka and Layton Obey; beautiful daughters, Tyrah Obey, Tiarrah Obey, Shanda Cronin and Telsa Wesaquate; brothers, Steven (Jaunita) Obey, Anthony (Jesse) Ironchild, Nicholas (Skyla) Ironchild, Bendan Sheepskin, Nevada Ironchild and Raymond (Ashley) Blacksioux; adopted brothers, Alwyn Foureyes, Timothy Lavallee, Jeremey Lavallee, and Tyler Lavallee; sisters, Shannon Obey, Jamie (Nate) Obey-Ironchild, Alana Obey, Debbie Obey, Didi (Virgil) Ironchild, Adrienne (Trevor) Ironchild, Jade Lavallee, and Cree (Keenan) Lavallee; nieces and nephews, Desmond, Darian, Dallan Crowe, Trisha Obey-Ledoux, Kimowan, Steven Jr. Jarvis, Chase Obey, Clemintina and Waseyaw Ironchild, Gracie Ironchild, Jermaine, Navi, Joaquin, Rolanda, Mary, Wynter, Murray and Roland. Nitanis, Nathalie, Duke, Mickey, Nadison and Muckatoon Ironchild and Honesty Obey; and special childhood friend, Darrell Crowe.

A Traditional Wake will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at the residence of Mary Obey and Murray Ironchild, Piapot First Nation, Saskatchewan.  Traditional Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the same location with Elders Officiating. Respecting traditional customs, please no pregnant women or children to attend the Wake or Funeral Service.  Interment to follow at Piapot Main Cemetery.
