Obituary of Elise Marie Louise Todd
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Elise Marie Louise (nee Lapalme, formerly Schiller) Todd, who left us on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the age of 98.
Elise was predeceased by her first husband, John F. Schiller; second husband, Ken Todd; grandson, Bradley C. Johnson; parents, Henri and Marie Rose Lapalme; and brothers, Bernard, Adrien, and Jean.
Elise is survived by her three loving daughters, Yvonne (Lorie) Graff of Regina Beach, Rita Schiller (Dale Johnson) of Regina, and Carmen Derenowski (Walter) of Porcupine Plain; and two grandsons, Brennan (Meaghan) Klatt and Emerson Klatt (Erin Torgunrud) both of Saskatoon.
Elise was born on the family farm near Tompkins, SK. As a young girl, she rode her pony to a one-room school. After completing high school in Swift Current, she went to Teachers’ College in Regina. While teaching in Francis, SK, Elise met and married John. They later moved to Regina where Elise raised her daughters and taught for the Regina Catholic School Division.
After John’s death, she married Ken Todd and moved to Taber, AB. Elise and Ken enjoyed travelling and gathering with friends. Elise was an avid gardener and was most proud of their beautiful and bountiful garden. We will always fondly remember the wonderful Christmas meals she lovingly prepared for her family.
After Ken’s passing, Elise moved to Saskatoon where she was blessed with many wonderful friends. She was active in St. Anne’s Catholic Church and took a cruise to New York and a second cruise to Alaska.
As Elise’s health declined, she moved back to Regina and lived in The Renaissance Retirement Home. Her outgoing nature helped her make many friends. Elise later moved to College Park II in Regina, where she enjoyed researching various topics on her iPad.
Elise always took great pride in the accomplishment of her daughters and grandsons and always encouraged them in their academic and career achievements.
Elise celebrated her 98th birthday with family and friends earlier this year. Her good nature, strong values, and a thirst for knowledge were admired by all whom had the privilege of knowing her. Elise was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, teacher and friend and will be greatly missed.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
In Loving Memory
Elise Todd
