I want to extend my deepest condolences to Bernice’s family who have said farewell to their beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend As a shirttail relative, thanks to my Nikki marrying Josh, I was so fortunate and honoured to meet this lovely lady. She was so welcoming and amazed me with all of the beautiful creations that she had made, or was in the process of making. Rest in peace Bernice. I know you will be sorely missed and remembered with love always.

Alex et al, please accept my condolences on the death of your mom, she sounds like a lovely lady. My daughter April and her husband Andrew Polasek sang at your mom's funeral, and she was telling me the remarkable story of Bernice's life. Little did I know you were related to the Kutarna's and to Andrew Polasek! Small world. Sorry for your loss.

Bernice was Auntie Bernice to me and my five siblings. Our dad Joe was number two of her five brothers. My mom and dad had a special feeling for Bernice. And we knew it. Bernice became for me the model of Polish love and hospitality. Always more yummy food than you could eat, but you kept eating! So many of us children back then, but she was always kind and ready to hug every little person. I moved to Toronto a long time ago, but every visit home, I’d make sure to drop in on Auntie Bernice and catch up on all the news. And she always had something wonderful and freshly baked, had her latest handy projects ready to share, and the latest news about all her children and grandchildren. So proud she was of — really — all of us! Thank you, Auntie Bernice for showing us how to be simple and kind and generous! May you rest now in peace with Jesus! Marian Kutarna

I couldn’t have asked for a more loving mom. On one of her many talks with me she said when she met me it broke her heart that a mom had to say goodbye to a little boy/me and leave this world.
Every single day she did her very best to love me, she was so loving and kind as anyone who met can attest to.
My favourite memories where always around Christmas. She would cook for days and make so many great dishes for us kids. I moved away from home and couldn’t make it home for Christmas so she sent a bunch of food on the bus for me so I wouldn’t miss out. Sadly I couldn’t retrieve it until after the weekend and it was all ruined except for the Christmas paska.
She tried and succeeded to give us all the love she had.She made many great memories for my kids and she will be missed.
Love you mom and I’ll see you when I get to heaven, until then I know you will be my guardian angel.

When we went for visits to grandma and grandpa Buehler’s, grandma always had a full table of food out before we showed up.
I remember grandma always saying, eat eat eat. As kids she showed us her fridge and said anything you want, no need to ask.
we would be full and she would say eat some more. She would sit there happy. Then when you were done she would bring out desert. You would be full before desert and you always made room for desert.
As kids I always remember her being warm, loving and caring. always making something with her hands.

To me Bernice was Baba. I cared for her for many years and she became a friend. Even though she had Dementia she would always recognize and comment about how hard we worked and always had a thank you. Her faith was stronger than anyone I knew and I could see the love of Jesus in the things she said and did. Every night (that we could find it) we would give her her rosary and faithfully she recited all of the words. When she was done I would remind her to say her prayers and ask her to also pray for me. I'd come back 1/2 later and she was still praying ( in Polish of course ). Baba often spoke of her grandma and mom and with pride she would point to a photo of herself and say "that's my grandma'". As time progressed she stopped speaking English and which made it difficult for her and us. We would remind her that we didn't understand Polish. By her reply we could only figure out that she wasn't to happy with us. But still we smothered her with the same love she had always showed us. Bubba will always hold a special place in my heart and I will miss her always until we meet in paradise. RIP Bubs.

When I was little, I told grandma that I didn’t want perogies because I was allergic to them. I can still remember how hard she laughed about that. You will truly be missed.

Aunty Bernice was my godmother. She was always so kind and thoughtful! When I got married she hosted a wonderful bridal shower for me with all of her friends and family. She was with my father when he died unexpectedly, and it was a comfort to know he had his loving sister by his side in his last moments. I appreciate the lovely tribute to Aunty Bernice in the obituary. My thoughts go out to her family and friends in losing the bright light she was in their lives.
