I met Marj when she was in charge of music at Camp Easter Seal in the late '50s. Aptly her nickname was 'Happy'! Her tinkling laughter was so joyful, infectious. When I learned Marj was a Jane Austin fan she was over the moon when I gave her a 'Jane' coffee mug. It was a privilege to know her. Thank you for the well written obituary which descirbed Marj to a 't'. . Jennifer Cohen

So sad to hear this. I think of "Mrs Burns" often and how amazing she was, before her time. We learned to love music in so many different ways because of her. Singing Art & Garfunkle in the music room, singing carols in the gym before school around Christmas time, teaching us the recorder and ukelele. I have had a huge love of music all my life and I know she had a lot to do with that. She was an outstanding teacher and the world is now a sadder place without her.

Marjorie Burns was a good friend and one of the 'lunch bunch' group with my mother Carol Coutts for many years. I know my mom will be saddened to hear of this news but remember all the laughs they had together.

On behalf of my mother Linda Zordel, a neighbour of Margorie Burns, and myself Heather Zordel, I pass along our condolences on Margorie Burns having passed. She was a special person, as shown in her love for music that inspired others, her contributions to the music communittee, and in her support of other civic and community work. She was seen out working in her front yard frequently when we would be going by and we shared lots of waives and smiles.

My Aunt Marjorie spent a great deal of time in her home baking muffins for school children in the Food for Learning Program. She always spoke highly with a smile about the program. The charity will miss her delicious muffins.

Marjorie sang for 10 or more years in the Whitmore Park Untied Church choir while I was conducting it.
We counted on her sweet Soprano voice and her help with many concerts held at the church, usually produced by Sandra Cosbey. Thank you Marj for your time with us until you decided to "go Andlican" and join other friends down at St. Paul's Cathedral!!
Love,
Wilma Bell Wessel

Mrs. Burn's sincerity and bringing music into the classroom on a daily basis made her my favourite teacher. I know that I am one of her many students that walked away better from knowing her.
