Please share a memory of James "Jim" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James (Jim) Joseph Dickie Jim passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the University of Alberta Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, William (Bill) and Cynthia Dickie; and his wife Hazel Dickie. Jim is survived by sons Earl (Tamara) Dickie and Gary (Kim) Dickie; grandchildren Fallon, Vanessa, Reid and Lauren; brother Doug Dickie and family; sister-in-law, Mary Dwernychuk and family; sister-in-law, Lil Pastuch and family. Jim was born in Yorkton, SK on January 26, 1943. He worked as a Journeyman Electrician and was a member of the IBEW for 50 years. In addition to the electrical trade, he also was an avid farmer. He took over the family farming operation (in Togo) in 1976, where he followed in his father and grandfather’s footsteps until 1994, when he sold the homestead to retire. Jim was married to Hazel Dwernychuk for 47 years and was a devoted father to Earl and Gary. He was so proud of his grandchildren and loved watching them become their own special people. Jim enjoyed being with people and he got endless pleasure from sharing tales with his greater friendship support network, including his curling mates, neighbours, church members and of course the coffee ‘row’ group. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at the Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre, where Jim thought the care and food were pretty top notch! Flowers are gratefully declined, and donations in Jim’s memory may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan; 301 2550 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 1861 McIntyre Street, Regina, on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. The interment will commence at 4:00 p.m. at The Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery on 4001 East Victoria Avenue.
