Obituary of Bernice Margaret Griffin
Bernice Griffin
July 29, 1938 - 2023-04-24
It is with great sadness, but with the comfort of knowing she is pain-free and at peace, that the family of Bernice Griffin (nee Looker), announce her peaceful passing on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 84, surrounded by family.
Bernice will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Thomas (Helen), Katherine, David, and Susan (Wally); sisters Doreen, Wilma, and Patricia (Cecil); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; as well as her dear friend Barb Waldron. Bernice was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years Percy; parents Katherine “Betty” and Thomas; brothers Roy and Lloyd; and sister Faith.
Bernice was born in Lintlaw, SK. She loved spending time with her family and siblings watching movies and playing cards, and Bernice cherished the company of her faithful dog of 18 years, Missy.
We were very blessed to have two caring parents who loved us, kept us safe, and ensured all of our needs were met. We were raised on family values; love, respect, trust, honesty and kindness which made us the people we are today.
Poem left by mom:
I Am With You Still
I give you this one thought to keep,
I am with you still, do not weep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush.
Of quiet birds circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone,
I am with you still, in each new dawn.
Bernice was a caring soul who will be lovingly remembered and missed by all who knew her.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home for the kindness and care mom received while staying there, and a heartfelt thank you for the exceptional care received by Dr. Carmen Johnson from Palliative Care.
A Graveside Service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in memory to the Allan Blair Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, 4545 Parliament Avenue, Regina, Saskatchewan, S4W 0G3.
In Loving Memory
