Obituary of Margaret Marsden

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Margaret Marsden on Friday, April 21, 2023.  Margaret was born in Darwen, Lancashire, England on July 14, 1926 to Annie and Harry.

Margaret married Ken Marsden and together they had four children; Pamela, David, Janet, and Gillian.  In 1965, they emigrated to Regina with four children in tow and settled nicely making their home in Albert Park.

Mom worked for the Government of Saskatchewan starting out in the Lands Branch and ending her career in the Legislative Building working in the Ministers office of several different political parties. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and met many dear friends. After retirement, Mom and Dad spent several winters in Victoria and took many trips back to England. After our Dad passed, mom took a trip back to England, a family trip to Mexico in her late eighties and most recently to Las Vegas for a family wedding.

Mom spent the last eight months of her life happily enjoying life at the Williston. She lived her life with a positive outlook, vibrancy, humour and was healthy and smart until the very end.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband Kenneth; grandson Erik; son-in-law Terry; and brothers-in-law Gordon and Philip. She leaves behind her four children Pamela (Al), David, Janet and Gillian (Kevin); grandsons Bradley (Karlee), Christopher (Kim), Lee, Anthony (Isabelle), Bryan (Aki), Riley (Chelsea) and Kyle; ten great-grandchildren; dear sister, Betty; and sister-in-law Barbara; as well as three nieces and one nephew.

Mom will be forever loved and missed.  We are so grateful for the full life she lived.  Special thank you to the staff at 3F at Regina General Hospital for taking care of mom this past week. Her ashes will be spread at the Scattering Garden at Riverside Cemetery in Regina, SK followed by a family dinner.  Those wishing to make a donation in her memory may do so to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society or to a charity of choice.
