Obituary of Albert Nagel

Albert Nagel 1938 - 2016 Albert Ellis Nagel, 77, of Regina, passed away after a brief illness on July 31, 2016 in Regina. Albert, or ‘Buddy’ as he was more affectionately known was born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta to Christian and Irene Nagel on November 29, 1938. Buddy grew up a farm boy in Leader, Saskatchewan but spent most of his life in Regina as a steelworker at IPSCO for over thirty years. A proud and yet complicated man, Buddy was both a grizzly bear and teddy bear who was extremely loyal to his family. He is remembered fondly for being a hard-working man who cared deeply for his family and close friends. Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, Christian and Irene. He is survived by his children’s mother, Janet, who held a special place in his heart, children Michael (Laura), Donna Gullickson (Harley), Bill (Maria) his grandchildren Mandy Crossman (Nolan), Kelsey, Madeline, Harrison, Paraskevi, Markella and Kyriaki, and most recently his first great-grandchild Sloane. Buddy also felt much kindness and love towards Mandy and Nolan’s four-legged friend, Nixon who seemed to understand Buddy better than most others. He also held a special place in his heart for Ricky and Wendy Kayter, Johnny Forrester and Emily Kerekes. Buddy had requested not to have a funeral but instead hoped people would remember the life he had and celebrate that in their own special way. Memorials, however, may be made in the form of donations to either STARS Air Ambulance or the Regina Humane Society, two organizations he supported. Michael, Donna and Bill wish to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Datta, Dr. Joanne McLeod, and the wonderful nursing staff of the Regina Pasqua Hospital for ensuring he passed away peacefully and with dignity.
