Obituary of Linda Dauk
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother “GG”, aunt and special friend on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the Regina General Hospital at the age of 91. Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her daughter Kathy (Dan); grandchildren Nicole (Travis), Chanelle, Scott, and Jillian (Ryan); great-grandchildren Sadie, Mila, and Jack; as well as son-in-law Elwood and her long-time friend Audrey. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilfred Dauk in 1996 and her loving daughter Bonnie in 2011; as well as her parents and siblings.
Linda was born at the family home in Annaheim, SK, the 11th child of Nicolaus and Magdelena Kramer. She attended school there and worked at various jobs in the area. On July 18, 1950, she married Wilfred Dauk. They farmed for several years, then moved to Regina where Wilfred was employed at the Regina General Hospital, and Linda worked as a nanny and later as an employee at Sears. In 1956, their first daughter Bonnie arrived, followed by a second daughter Kathy in 1959. They provided a loving home for their daughters and were wonderful parents.
As she was from rural Saskatchewan, Linda was an avid gardener, producing a variety of useful vegetables which she canned and preserved. She also loved flowers, especially gladioli. Linda was also a great cook and baker. Her buns were a specialty.
Being a faithful friend was one of Linda’s finest qualities. She made a point of remembering birthdays, anniversaries and other special days. Her siblings, nieces and nephews were important to her and she delighted in keeping in touch with them. As a result, she in turn received an abundance of cards, letters, calls, flowers and gifts as well as frequent visits. Linda also remained in contact with friends from work and special neighbors. Family traditions were adhered to at certain times of the year, initiated by Linda, along with special foods and gifts. She was a great hostess.
Following retirement, Linda and Wilfred often took car trips to other provinces as well as the United States, They loved to dance, so they usually chose a hotel that offered that opportunity. On one occasion, they want as far as to visit relatives in New York. Linda’s personal interests included sewing, crocheting, reading, crossword puzzling, and in later years, participating in the daily mass on TV. Linda was a great woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Holy Trinity Parish, 5020 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK. A private family interment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Sask. Lung Association or the Sask. Cancer Agency.
