Obituary of Adolph "Bing" Jaster
It is with sorrow that Bing passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2023 at the age of 104.
Bing was born and raised in Yellow Grass, SK where he spent most of his adult life, although he did work on a couple of occasions in Vancouver, BC.
Bing was one of six children born to the late Julianna and Frederich Jaster. He was predeceased by a sister Olga MacCorquodale; brothers Edmund and William; two siblings who died in infancy; and stepfather Julius Jahnke.
Even though Bing never married and did not have any of his own children he was a wonderfully caring Uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He will be missed and forever remembered in the hearts of his nieces Carol Morris, Shirley (Antonino) Bucca, and Donna (Jim) Matheson; nephews Graham (Judith) MacCorquodale, William (Robin) Jaster, Craig (Beverley) MacCorquodale, Murray (Mary Ann) Jaster, Leslie (Arlene) Jaster; 19 great nieces and nephews; 25 great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great nephew.
Bing was enlisted into the Army on October 9, 1940 at the age of 22. He served in the War until 1945, was discharged on March 4, 1946, and went back to civilian life at age 27.
He returned to Yellow Grass in 1950 and opened a garage and service station that he owned and operated as the Jaster`s ESSO Service Station. He also became a radio and TV repairman and home handyman and prided himself in being Mr. Fix It; his moto was “If I can’t fix it then nobody can”.
Bing has always helped out his family and friends throughout his life and willingly gave his spare time to assist in volunteer community work. Bing loved to watch sports, and he played baseball and hockey in his young years and later on curled in the winter, golfed in the summer, and played snooker into his golden years.
A Celebration of Bing`s Life will be held at a later date with family and friends. A notice will be posted in the Yellow Grass Credit Union.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command at https://reginalegion.com/donate/fund/.
