Obituary of Gordon Ernest Lissel

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Ernest Lissel, announce his passing. He left to join his creator on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the age of 93, while residing at Regina Wascana Grace Hospice.

Gordon leaves to mourn his best friend and loving wife of 63 years, Norma Lissel; as well as his daughter Calla-Dawn (Lindsay Brooks), grandsons Calder and Darby Brooks; and his son Scott Lissel (Donna), granddaughter Chelsey (Steven Blehm), great-grandson Fynnley Blehm, grandson Parker Lissel (fiancée Jessica Perchie). He is survived by his sister Helen McGovern (Jim), Terry Seidens (Wayne) and brother James (Karin). Gordon was predeceased by his parents Theo and Mary; sisters Georgina, Evelyn, Jean and two infant sisters Beatrice and Edna.

Gordon was born on the family farm to his parents, Theodore and Mary (nee Weiss), on December 07, 1929.   He was a proud, quiet, honest and gentle man; a man who loved his Lord and Saviour.  Gordon was always grateful for the blessings bestowed upon him.  He enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.  Gordon enjoyed all the activities the family took part in.  He will be greatly missed by many close relatives and dear friends.

Gordon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s many years ago.  He always remained kind and pleasant, asking about the well-being of others and thanking them for their thoughtfulness.

Gordon retired from a career with Drywall Construction in 1990 due to a brain tumor. He was still fortunate to enjoy many years of retirement.

The family would like to thank the staff at Pasqua Hospital and Wascana Grace Hospice for the compassionate care he received.  We, the family, are grateful for the many prayers and acts of kindness offered throughout these sad and difficult days.

Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3510 Queen Street, Regina, SK with Pastor Jeff Tank officiating.
